Q: So how do you defend the widespread, clearly false conservative view that a meaningful number of poor people get that way by their own laziness or lack of work ethic? In my experience the lowest class include the hardest workers of all, unable to climb any higher or keep up with necessary living expenses long enough to even save anything. Why does the right act as if the poor are just these worthless parasites who could stop being poor if they "REALLY" wanted?

I have never once said that and conservatives do not agree with that stance you came up with.
Conservatives like the free market and don’t like federal regulations because it allows for people to come up from being poor to being comfortable, if not borderline upper class or upper class itself.
Contrary to your popular and false belief, not all conservatives were born rich with a silver spoon in their mouth.
Tons and tons of our politicians were working class or came from working class families. Even Mitt Romney actually earned his wealth on his own while his inheritance when straight to charity.
This is unlike some democrats. Like the Kennedy’s or John Kerry.
And I would also like to point out that because of our more conservative past, many rich people such as celebrities and moguls were able to get where they are because of a less restrictive government.
Also, we are not against the government assisting people who truly need the help. But it’s become such a bloated and unethical system that there is too much money being given out to people who don’t actually need it which means less is going to people who need it as well as less burden on the tax payers.
So stop subscribing to stereotypes.
