“Thank you for calling United Healthcare. Por blah blah blah Espanol, blah blah tres.”
You can’t even say “For English press 1. Por espanol tres”?
Are you upset that there are people that speak other languages than English?
Nope. I just think that since this is America and our de facto language is English, that we should put that first. I don’t like the fact that people come here illegally and then we bend to their needs when they should bend to ours.
Because you don’t see me needing a phone option for Italian. You don’t see me needing a phone option for Slovak. You don’t see me needing a phone option for Gaelic. You don’t see me needing a phone option for Serbian. Of course, my people came here legally. And had to take those physical and medical exams to gain entry.
Also, we don’t see other immigrants being appeased. There is no Arabic/Persian option. There is no Russian option. There are TONS of Vietnamese people in my area and there isn’t a Vietnamese option for them.
Why don’t you go to a south of the border country and try to get them to use English on government forms and their phone answering systems. Go see if they’ll do that in the Middle East. Go see if they’ll do that in Ukraine. Go see if they do that in Vietnam.
But why should we expect people who break our laws by coming here illegally to learn our language and speak it to us.
