Oh Christ Almighty.
Now, I don’t condone bullying, because it sucks, but people need to stop being so sensitive.
I was bullied as a kid. I was bullied on livejournal in 9th grade. Did I sue anyone? No. Did it hurt? Yea. It hurt a lot. But people can’t always expect to get legal retribution for it. I was physically bullied once and I don’t think anyone but the kids know because when I brought it up as a teen, my mom had no clue that it had happened. Because I hadn’t told anyone and I guess no teachers were around. Am I suing those kids and the school? No.
Now I know I am just one case and some people may not have the strength to just go on. Everyone should definitely tell someone it’s happening and get help. But suing? Come on. Tons of kids get physically hurt and aren’t suing. Why sue over facebook bullying?
Now here is why I have no sympathy for this kid or any other kid getting bullied online and then crying out to the world.
There is this thing called a block button. It’s awesome. You click it, and the person can’t even find your profile. And it’s awesome, because then you can’t see theirs either. They won’t be able to say anything to you, and if they say something about you, you won’t be able to see it.
These kids know that the people bullying them aren’t their friend. There is no reason to be friends with them online. And if the bullying keeps persisting, make a new account and/or change your privacy settings. It’s hard to escape the taunts in the hallway, but it is beyond simple to keep them out of your online profile.
So that’s why I think that complaining about online bullying is the most annoying thing ever. There are so many ways to keep it away. The block button and privacy settings weren’t invented just to keep evil exes from stalking you.
